The Wii’s Virtual Console
I finally got around to getting a couple of games on the Virtual Console, Paper Mario and Super Mario World. Paper Mario was the one that finally convinced me to get some VC games. Some of the best spent money of my life, let me tell you. It’s so great and nostalgic to be playing these games again after so long. I had Super Mario World back when I had a SNES (I had two games for it, Super Mario Kart, and Super Mario World, so they both got a lot of play time). Super Mario World is easily my favorite of all the classic-style Mario platformers (I know a lot of people really like Super Mario Bros. 3, but I missed out on that one, so I can’t say anything for it. Maybe I’ll get it if/when it comes out on VC). There’s just so much to the game, so many secrets, so many areas, and it’s just so much fun. And it reminds you how much more challenging games used to be.
Paper Mario got me hooked on Mario RPGs (I now have all 3 PM games, and I also have both Mario & Luigi games for GBA and DS). It’s just a brilliant game, with a great storyline, characters, and writing, and a very innovative Battle System. I’ve played it so many times, and I’m so glad to have it again. I beat 4 chapters today alone.
Games I’d like to see (and would buy) on the Virtual Console: Majora’s Mask (I have the Zelda Collector’s disc, but Majora’s Mask on there has been known to freeze on me, which is really bad when you can’t save all the time), Donkey Kong 64 (Hopefully Rare will okay this), Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie (not so likely that Rare will allow Nintendo to release these, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Tight. And it hurts), and Super Mario RPG (missed out on this, which people are always telling me is a gem, and I really want to try it).
My next planned topics to post are stages and characters I’d like to see in Brawl, complete with movesets and detailed descriptions (and pictures! Yay!) . So I hope you’ll check them out.
